Child custody evaluation record review

1 cited chronology per child and per parent, from every collateral record.

Child custody evaluation record review merges the collateral records of a court-ordered evaluation, pediatric, school, therapy, CPS and police, into 1 page-cited chronology per child and per parent. Medrecords AI organizes, cites and flags what the records document. It draws no conclusion about parenting. The evaluator and the court decide.

Self-Service starts at 10 cents a deduplicated page, down to 5 cents at volume. Duplicate pages are free. Enterprise On-Prem is an annual license, no per-seat fees. First case is free on us.

The appointment order sets the questions. The evaluator and the court answer them.

We do not build for a case type until we can name the standard that defines a correct output and the person who grades the file against it. In court-ordered child custody evaluations, both are already published.

The standard and the referee
The rulebook
  • The forum's best-interests-of-the-child statute and its enumerated factors, which name what the evaluation has to address
  • The AFCC Model Standards of Practice for Child Custody Evaluation, which require the evaluator to gather data from multiple sources and to weigh information that does not fit the emerging picture
  • The APA Guidelines for Child Custody Evaluations in Family Law Proceedings on scope, multiple methods and the limits of the evaluator's role
  • The court's own appointment order, which sets the referral questions, the parties to be evaluated and the records the evaluator may obtain
The referee
  • The family court, which adopts, modifies or rejects the recommendation
  • The guardian ad litem or the child's attorney, reading the same records independently
  • A second-opinion reviewer retained to critique the evaluation, whose first move is to compare the report against the record

3 steps between the records and the evaluation.

01

Send the records for every parent and child

Medical, psychiatric, substance treatment and pharmacy records for each parent, pediatric, therapy and school records for each child, CPS files, police reports, and prior orders and evaluations, in any format.

02

Get the digest back, 1 chronology per child and per parent

Separate cited chronologies that read side by side, with treatment course, adherence, CPS contact, police contact and school findings carried as their own rows, each with its page.

03

The evaluator evaluates

Interviews, observation, testing and the best-interests analysis are the evaluator's work, and the recommendation is theirs to make. The guardian ad litem reads the same digest. It is the cited documentary record underneath both.

A cited record, not a custody recommendation.

Medrecords AI assembles and cites what the records document. It does not interview or observe anyone, administer or score any instrument, assess parenting capacity, or recommend a custody or parenting-time arrangement. It draws no conclusion about either parent. Those belong to the evaluator and to the court.

Roughly a third of a custody file is medical and the rest is school, therapy, CPS, police and correspondence. All of it is read. A CPS referral that was screened out still shows as a cited entry, because the evaluator needs to know it exists, not to be told what it means.

7 capabilities behind every custody record digest.

The custody record digest is one deliverable of the same platform that reads, sorts, and cites the whole record.

Medical Records OCR

Every page for every parent and child is read, including the school files, police reports and handwritten CPS notes that carry most of the observations.

IN ACTION · 1,900 pp / 6 parties, read in full

Medical Chronology

1 chronology per child and per parent, aligned on the same dates, so a household is readable as a whole instead of as 5 separate files.

IN ACTION · per party → aligned timelines

Verifiable AI Citations

Every entry links to its page, so a report challenged at hearing is answered from the record in 1 click.

IN ACTION · digest → cited 100%

Medical Summary Reports

It exports into the evaluator's report structure, the guardian ad litem's file or a second-opinion critique, in your format.

IN ACTION · digest → report structure

Medical Record Deduplication

Records for 2 parents and 3 children arrive from pediatricians, therapists, schools, CPS and police, and the same visit note or report often arrives twice. Each duplicate is matched and collapsed to 1 record, so every encounter is read once and billed never.

IN ACTION · 342 pp / 2 packets → 11 duplicate pages removed

Missing Records Identification

A custody digest is only as sound as the file behind it. When a therapy note references a CPS referral, a school record references a counselor report, or a pediatric chart references a visit that never made it into the production, the gap is flagged with its page before the report goes to the court.

IN ACTION · referenced records cross-checked → gaps flagged before the report

Cross-Exam Simulator (beta)

Opposing counsel builds the cross-examination from the records the report relied on. This beta tool maps the questions an evaluator is likely to face at hearing about the entries the report addressed and the entries it did not. A rehearsal tool, not legal advice.

Custody evaluation record review, answered.

No, and no software should. The recommendation rests on interviews, observation and clinical judgment that belong to the appointed evaluator. Medrecords AI assembles the cited documentary record the evaluation is built on and draws no conclusion about either parent.

Pediatric and medical records, therapy and psychiatric records, substance treatment and pharmacy records, school records including attendance and IEP findings, CPS files including screened-out referrals, police reports, and prior orders and evaluations. Each entry is cited to its page in the collateral records index.

Yes. Each parent and each child gets their own cited chronology, aligned on the same dates so they can be read together, rather than 1 merged chronology in which a child's course disappears.

Yes. A guardian ad litem reads the same cited digest the evaluator reads. A second-opinion reviewer starts by comparing the report against the record, and the digest shows which entries the report addressed and which it did not, with pages.
